The SaaS Source — July 2026

Summarize with AI

This month’s roundup covers the latest innovations and developments from Japan’s SaaS industry, including a ¥13.5bn Series D for an AI sustainability and carbon-accounting platform, a ¥100mn seed round for a data-governance SaaS spun out of a larger startup, a ¥3.35bn first close for a voice-analytics AI platform used in sales and customer support, and a ¥1.63bn Series B for a LINE-based customer engagement platform.

Asuene Raises ¥13.5bn Series D

PR TIMES reported (in Japanese) that Asuene, a Tokyo-based AI sustainability platform provider, closed a ¥13.5bn (~$92mn) Series D on July 23, bringing cumulative investment and borrowing to ¥25bn. Decarbonization Partners, a joint venture between BlackRock and Singapore’s Temasek, led the round in its first investment in a Japanese startup, joined by Daikin Industries, Ricoh Innovation Fund and Petronas corporate venture arm Twin Towers Ventures. The round comprises ¥6.8bn in primary shares, ¥3.7bn in secondary transactions and roughly ¥3bn in debt from Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation. Asuene’s core platform calculates and visualizes Scope 1 through 3 greenhouse gas data and has been adopted by more than 22,000 companies, including about 40% of firms listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange Prime market.

WeDraft Raises ¥100mn for Data-Governance SaaS Spun Out of Acompany

Kepple reported (in Japanese) that WeDraft, founded in January 2026, raised ¥100mn in a seed round from DNX Ventures. The company’s Flows platform is a cloud service that centralizes how companies register, manage and audit their personal-data and information assets, automatically flagging legal and privacy risks when a business unit requests to collect or use new data. Flows descends from AutoPrivacy Governance, a product CEO Hiroki Hashimura built at Acompany before spinning the business out via a management buyout. The raise will fund product development and early customer rollouts as Japan tightens personal-data-protection rules and prepares a new supply-chain security rating system for 2026.

RevComm Raises ¥3.35bn First Close for Voice-Analytics AI MiiTel

The Bridge reported (in Japanese) that RevComm, developer of the voice-analytics AI platform MiiTel, raised ¥3.35bn (~$23mn) in the first close of its Series B round on July 22, taking cumulative funding to ¥8.6bn. SMBC Edge led the equity portion, with WiL, KDDI Open Innovation Fund 3, Shinsei Venture Partners and Salesforce Ventures participating, while debt came from Bank of Fukuoka and SDF Capital. MiiTel automatically records, transcribes and analyzes phone calls, web meetings and in-person conversations, generating conversation scoring and automated meeting minutes across a product family that includes MiiTel Phone, MiiTel Call Center, MiiTel Meetings and MiiTel for Retail. The company reports more than 3,000 customers and will direct proceeds toward AI agent implementation, voice AI infrastructure, overseas expansion and organizational development. Telephone-based sales and customer support remain deeply embedded in Japanese business practice, leaving a large volume of commercial conversation data that has historically gone unrecorded and unanalyzed.

Kuzen Raises ¥1.63bn for AI-Powered LINE Marketing SaaS

PR TIMES reported (in Japanese) that Kuzen Inc., a Tokyo-based provider of the customer engagement platform Kuzen, closed a Series B round totaling ¥1.63bn on July 7, led by J-Growth’s RJ Value Plus fund with participation from Sumitomo Corporation’s venture arm, bringing cumulative funding to ¥2.88bn. Kuzen lets brands manage LINE, email and SMS communications from a single platform, using generative AI to personalize messaging based on first-party conversational data. The company counts gig-work platform Timee among its 700-plus corporate clients and will use the funding to expand AI-agent features, add multichannel support, and push into overseas markets starting in Asia. LINE remains Japan’s dominant messaging app, giving CRM tools built around it a built-in advantage in reaching consumers.
